DocBridge View
Comprehensive Support of Multiple Formats
One User Interface
DocBridge View is a very fast and easy to use tool to view electronically stored or archived documents. DocBridge View displays single, multiple, or batch documents at the same time. Its unique functionality supports all complex mixed object formats typically used for storage and archiving like IBM’s AFP and MO:DCA, HP’s PCL, Adobe’s PDF, and SAP’s OTF and ALF as well as the raster formats TIFF, JPEG, GIF, IOCA, BMP, PCX, PNG, and TNG. Another outstanding feature of DocBridge View is its ability to display every single page of the documents opened in the viewer in the very same display window - regardless of the format of the single document.
DocBridge View is a versatile and fast multi-document viewer. Thanks to its numerous integration functions and its controllability, DocBridge View can be deployed in a multitude of application scenarios related to document or output management. In its extensive support of the mixed object formats, DocBridge View sets the standard for multi-format viewing products.

User Functions
The graphical user interface basically consists of two elements:
The viewing window
The viewing window displays the pages of all opened documents - no matter which format they have. The user will not notice any differences in display, but can view the image of any document page, even if all opened documents are of a different format. The viewer provides all functions for the most convenient display of docu-ment pages such as scrolling, rotating, and zooming. The user can choose from different display quality levels like scale-to-gray and rasterizing of fonts. Its outstanding performance complements the features of DocBridge View.
The document navigation window
The document navigation window provides an overview of the opened documents in three different views:
- The document tree view displays the document batches, documents, and pages hierarchically in a familiar structure similar to Windows Explorer.
- The document overview displays all pages of the opened documents sequentially as preview images.
- The index view is used for document batches of AFP documents that are using TLE tags for indexing. This view displays the document structure of AFP batches with its index name - index value pairs. This enables the user to control all documents as soon as they have been opened.
Additional features include
- Selection of individual pages to be printed or sent by E-mail
- Search text within opened mixed-object format documents with highlighting of the sources found
Resource Management
Resource management is a key feature of DocBridge View. With mixed object formats such as AFP, DocBridge View is able to resolve internal or external resources like overlays, page segments, medium maps as well as form definitions or fonts in an accurate reproduction. For font representation, DocBridge View allows switching from using system fonts of the same type to fonts rasterized by DocBridge View.
In case a document has been printed onto a form that is not included within the data stream, DocBridge View will use an external form that is available in one of the supported formats as an overlay in the viewer window to enhance the readability and quality of reproduction. This approach provides the ability to add text such as "copy" or "reprint" to the printout by means of an additional overlay document.
Configurability
DocBridge View is fully configurable via several external methods:
- DocBridge View can be called with a number of control parameters. Document lists can be opened by means of substitute characters.
- DocBridge View provides a control profile with several options, e.g. to limit or extend the control elements of the user interface.
- Due to its DDE functionality, DocBridge View can be integrated as an additional building block for third-party applications such as archiving: It provides an extensive list of function calls that allow the seamless integration of DocBridge View into the respective application.
- DocBridge View resolves http-addresses and displays documents directly from the web server. In this operation mode, the viewer can selectively call and display the requested page to accelerate the display in case of a slow line - and despite this still display the overview of the documents. The complementary product on the web server is the DocBridge Toolkit for C/Java. View resolves http-addresses and displays documents directly from the web server.
